At EADA, we define Innovation as the profitable application of creativity. More precisely, innovation is about creating products, processes, and organizational models that have a direct impact on the performance of the company, either in terms of increases in turnover (product or service innovations) or improvements in efficiency (process and organizational innovations).
Innovation provides a strong competitive advantage and is one of the best ways to speed up the rate of change and adaptation to the global environment. Recent surveys by BCG (Most Innovative companies 2013, bcg perspectives.com) or Capgemini (Innovation Leadership Study – Managing innovation: An insider perspective, Capgemini.com) confirm that 3 out of 4 executives believe that innovation is extremely or very important to their companies’ growth strategy. Concurrently, the innovation topic is also gaining more and more visibility and interest among academic communities worldwide.
Though some of the challenges of innovating are remarkably consistent, the recent period has seen the emergence of new ways for stimulating and managing the innovation process. They include, among others, the increase of external collaboration for getting new ideas (often called “open innovation”), the renewed importance of communication as a key success factor for innovating, the mounting need for fostering an innovation culture, the redefining of how to lead innovation projects, the design of new metrics to evaluate innovation performance, and the accrued globalization of the innovation process.
Thus, it was logical for EADA to create a structure dedicated to the investigation of the latest trends in Innovation management with a global perspective: The Global Innovation Management Center.
Mision and Vision
Our mission is to generate, collect and disseminate the latest knowledge and skills about innovation management towards professional and academics through research, education, and projects at a global level. GIMCE has naturally a close relationship with the Entrepreneurship Center because many startup companies are created with the goal to bring a new product or service on the market.
Our vision is to become a reference among European innovation management centers.
